What is a Hair Transplant?

Hair Transplant is a type of surgery that moves hair that you already have to fill an area with thin or no hair. The back and sides of hair on the scalp is mostly known as donor area. It has hair that will continue to grow throughout the life of most people. This hair retains its characteristics of growth even after it is transplanted to the thinning or bald area.

Does hair transplant surgery result in permanent growing hair?

Hair follicles removed from the safe donor area regions in the back and on the sides of the scalp are genetically resistant to baldness. And so, the transplanted hair will continue to grow over the course of a lifetime as long as the donor hair remains healthy.

Can a hair transplant restore my original hair density?

This can only be determined with a face-to-face consultation. Patients with excellent donor areas may be able to achieve good hair density, especially with the Bio-DHT procedure. However, density of hair can vary from person to person.

Will my hairline look natural?

This is the most important aspect of the surgery. We meticulously plan each hair transplant to provide the most natural hairline possible for the satisfaction of our patients.

Are there any risks associated with the hair transplant surgery?

There are risks associated with every type of surgery which include infection, bleeding, and scarring. However, complications are extremely rare when the procedure is performed by a competent surgeon.

How long will it take to see the results of my transplant?

Hair only grows around 1cm per month, so it could take some time for your new hair to become visible and your hairline to show the results you were hoping for. After 4-5 months you should start to be getting a good idea of the final appearance, but it can take as long as 18 months for the full hair transplant to be visible.

Is a hair transplant painful?

Patients are given local anesthesia in the donor and recipient areas. And so most patients do not feel pain or discomfort during the surgery. You can expect to feel a minimal amount of soreness and numbness after your surgery which heals in a couple of weeks.

How long does a hair transplant surgery take?

An average hair transplant takes about 4-7 hours depending on the hair transplant method. A typical session of 1,500 to 3,000 grafts normally involves a full day of surgery on an outpatient basis. Most patients will arrive in the morning and will have their procedure completed by late afternoon.

What do I need to keep in mind when I come for my appointment?

It is advisable not to wear makeup when attending appointments for skin concerns. If you must wear makeup, we can provide you with makeup remover during your consultation in the event that we need to assess your facial skin. Remember to bring makeup to reapply after your appointments.

How long does a consultation take?

We set aside around 20-30 minutes for each appointment. If you have a number of conditions to be treated, it could take more.

How should I prepare for my appointment for cosmetic injectables?

It is recommended that you do not wear makeup. Stop any non-essential blood thinning medications for one week prior to the appointment to minimize the chance of bruising. Please check with your doctor if this is okay before proceeding. Be sure that you do not have an important event in the coming days in case of bruising, swelling, etc.

What is hyperpigmentation?

Hyperpigmentation, such as brown spots and freckles, are caused by over-active cells that produce too much melanin, which is a natural skin pigment. This is primarily caused by excess exposure from the sun.

What causes dark circles under the eyes?

Dark circles can be a result of visible blood vessels just below the thin skin under the eyes or shadowing from sunken areas around the eyes caused by the breakdown of collagen and elastin as we age. Lack of sleep and UV damage caused by sun exposure can make under-eye circles look darker.

What are the signs of a dry sign?

People with dry skin may experience a feeling of "tightness", itching, rough, scaly or flaky skin or cracks in the skin.

What is collagen and why is it important?

Collagen is a skin protein responsible for the elasticity and resiliency of skin. As we age, collagen production slows resulting in wrinkles and other common signs of ageing. We have many treatments that stimulate collagen production.

What are the signs and symptoms of sensitive skin?

How do I treat an uneven skin tone?

What is combination skin?

Why do we get wrinkles and when do they start?

How do you decide which Chemical Peel is right for me?

There are several factors that determine which chemical peel is best for you: 1)The severity of your skin condition. 2) Your skin type (oily, dry, light, dark). 3) The results you would like to achieve. 4) The length of recovery time.

At what age should one start cosmetic injectables and anti-aging fillers?

Young adults can use injectables to enhance their beauty and to prevent folds and wrinkles from forming. Older people can use injectables to restore lost volumes, reduce wrinkles and skin folds, and enhance sagging features.

Can I go for Laser treatments if I have medical concerns?

Address any concerns prior to treatment, i.e pregnancy, allergies, recent surgeries, or other medical conditions. You may also want to discuss concerns with your primary doctor before scheduling an appointment.

What is the aftercare for Laser Hair Removal treatments?

For 24 -48 hours after the treatment, please avoid excessive sweating, hot showers. Avoid plucking the treatment area. Ensure all treatment areas are not exposed to direct sunlight for 14 days and apply SPF liberally every day.

Will all the hair be removed in one laser hair reduction treatment?

No. We recommend a series of 8-12 treatments done at monthly intervals and maintenance treatments every 2-3 months for permanent hair reduction. You can choose to extend the intervals if you prefer to have a minimal reduction.

How many sessions will I need for removing pigmented lesions?

To improve the look of your skin and achieve a more youthful appearance by removing pigmented lesions will require only a few treatments. Darker, deeper and larger pigmented lesions may require additional treatments.

What do Laser treatments for skin feel like?

Most patients find the laser procedure tolerable and require no numbing cream or anesthesia. Laser energy is delivered in ultra-short bursts, and patients often compare the laser pulse to a snap of a thin rubber band.

What precautions should I take before any Laser treatment?

Avoid chemical peels before your treatment.

Ensure no residue fake tan is present on the skin.

Avoid excessive sun exposure two weeks prior on the area to be treated.

Avoid using topical creams, perfumes etc. to the area before the appointment.

Can I go for Laser treatments if I am pregnant?

There are no conclusive studies on laser being safe or unsafe for pregnant women. We advise pregnant women to obtain mandatory medical clearance prior to proceeding with treatment.

Is there downtime for Laser treatments?

Laser treatments are effective with no downtime! A mild pinkish flush might be present for about 15 minutes after the laser treatment.

What precautions should I take after laser treatments?

Avoid sun tanning for 7 days before and after the treatment. Also apply appropriate sunscreen.

How do I maintain results after a laser treatment?

It’s vital to have a good topical maintenance routine at home to optimize the results of laser treatments. Home regimes should include regular use of retinoids, vitamin C serum, and sunscreen.

What is slimming?

Slimming generally involves getting rid of extra fat, without losing muscles and bones. The term is generally used in the context of localized fat loss and cellulite treatment as opposed to gross weight loss.

Are the results of the treatment permanent?

The results of Slimming treatment could be permanent on condition that patients maintain proper diet and lifestyle, exercise regularly and avoid a dormant or inactive life.

How fast can I see results?

What if I have to stay away from treatment for a week or two due to certain circumstance?

How does EMS work?

This modern EMS machine will make your abdominal muscle work, even if you’re resting or lying on the bed. The machine makes the muscle work (contract) by sending very tiny electrical impulses that travel on the surface of your tummy only to burn fat.

What are the side effects of EMS?

What if I already have Diabetes and High Blood pressure?

What is the recovery from cosmetic surgery like?

What are the possible risks of cosmetic surgeries?

Is there any right age to have cosmetic surgery?

How often would I need to repeat the Botox® or Restylane injections?

Botox® lasts about three to four months, and the treatment can be repeated as needed. When it wears off, you will begin to notice increased muscle action and some appearance of the wrinkles. It is noted that with repeated use, the effect of Botox® becomes longer lasting. Restylane® injections last for about six months, and can also be repeated as needed.

How do I know what size breast implant is right for me?

The decision is based on a number of factors, including the patient's desires, reasons for the surgery and overall health. You may feel your breasts are too small or you may be unhappy with the size and firmness of your breasts following pregnancy, breastfeeding or major weight loss. Also, unevenness between the breasts can also be a motivating factor. Your surgeon can help you make the right decision during your pre-surgical appointment.

What is tumescent liposuction?

Tumescent liposuction is a technique that uses a large volume of dilute epinephrine to cause intense constriction of the small blood vessels, which leads to less bleeding, less bruising, less swelling and a quicker recovery compared to traditional methods.

Is there anything to do to minimize swelling or bruising?

It is advisable to sleep in a reclining (not horizontal) position for one week following surgery to minimize the collection of fluids in the face and eyelids. Follow the instructions given about making and administering your cold and warm compresses. These will not only reduce bruising and swelling, but they will also maximize and promote healing.

Will there be any scarring?

Scarring will occur when ever an incision is made and the severity of the scarring varies from person to person. Most incisions are made in areas that will not show, like under undergarments or along natural creases and the scars will normally fade over time. Your surgeon will address this in more detail at the time of your consultation.

What if there are complications?

Special care always is taken to avoid complications, but unfortunately, they can occur. Your surgeon should be able to detect any problems at a very early stage. Should a complication arise, our surgeon will make every effort to limit and correct its effects.

Can several cosmetic surgery procedures be performed at the same time?

There are several important variables that must be considered before deciding to combine surgeries. As with all patients, decisions of this nature are always made on a case-by-case basis. Combining surgeries can save time and money and may be an option for you. However, do not assume this will always be the case.

How long does it take to recover from my cosmetic surgery procedure?

Recovery times will vary depending upon the procedure and the patient. Rest and limited activity are very important to speed healing and reduce recovery time. Regardless of the procedure, it is very important to follow the specific post-operative instructions provided by your doctor.

How do I ensure that I have a safe cosmetic surgery procedure?

Our medical staff is highly trained and has many hours of surgical experience. But it is essential to follow all your pre- and post-operative instructions exactly. You should also thoroughly discuss any and all medical conditions with us before your procedure. This is the best way to ensure a smooth surgery and recovery process.

What are the do’s and don’ts before any cosmetic surgery?

To get the best possible surgical results:

Stop taking any over-the-counter supplements, such as vitamins, minerals and herbal products, seven days prior to surgery. Quit smoking at least six weeks before your surgery to avoid healing problems and serious medical complications during your recovery.

You may have to discontinue taking aspirin or drugs with anticoagulation properties, as they can cause unnecessary bleeding during surgery.

If you come down with a cold or fever, or experience an infection or injury, contact our office immediately to reschedule your procedure and minimize the risk of surgical complications.

Do you have less invasive options to improve my appearance?

Yes! We have injectable dermal fillers that can plump lips and cheeks, smooth out wrinkles and fine lines and restore a more youthful overall appearance. While the results from these products aren’t permanent, they are long-lasting, and unlike surgery, they require no recovery time.
