A FUE hair transplant is a modern method of hair transplantation. FUE, which is also known as Follicular Unit Extraction, is an advanced technology that works towards giving you the most "Natural Look" hair transplant possible.
During a FUE hair transplant at the DNCC Clinic, one of our highly skilled doctors will extract hair follicles from the back and side of the scalp – this area is called the Donor Area. The hair follicles are then transferred to an area of the scalp with little or no hair – called the Recipient Area. The hair follicles are placed in the scalp at an angle and density to match your natural growth pattern, which results in a natural and realistic looking transplant.
A Bio-DHT Hair Transplant is one of the newest techniques in hair transplantation and is a variation of the FUE hair transplant. It involves fewer steps and is mainly differentiated by its implantation process which makes uses of a special medical tool known as the Choi Implanter Pen.
After administering local anesthesia, the grafts are extracted using the micromotor assisted punches just like it is done during a FUE transplant. But there after the Bio-DHT implantation process method is different and more efficient. It combines the making of channel incision dots in the recipient area and implanting the extracted follicles as one single process. Using a Choi implanter pen, the doctor loads the follicles extracted from the donor region into the implanter; the follicles are put gently, using forceps, inside the hollow needle (at the end of the implanter pen). The pen is then used to implant the preloaded follicles into the scalp. The surgeon inserts the needle at an appropriate slant usually at a 40-45% angle into the scalp and implants the follicle by pressing down on the plunger.
This process is then repeated to implant all the extracted follicles. During the process the medical team use about 2 to 6 Choi pens alternately to get the best result in a timely manner. Each of these implanters is equipped with various sizes of needles from 0.5-1.5mm to fit single, double and triple hair follicle units.
A Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP) is a procedure that applies pigments at the epidermal level of your scalp to create the illusion of a shaved hair or stubble look, by providing coverage in hair-bearing scalp areas that have lost hair or require the appearance of greater density. It is ideal for men and women in early stages of thinning to advanced hair loss.
A topical anesthetic to numb the skin and keep the patient comfortable could be used. The procedure is performed with a pen-like instrument or standard tattoo gun. The needle will penetrate a few millimeters into the middle layer of the skin (dermis) and an iron oxide pigment is injected in the scalp areas requiring coverage. Most procedures could take from 30 minutes to several hours to perform depending upon the complexity of the procedure. The desired results can be seen immediately and could last for years.
The basic FUE principle remains the same. Extracting hair follicles from a donor area (typically the back or sides of the head) and transplanting them into areas of thinning or baldness. This technique is an innovation of implementing sapphire tips, instead of metal slits within the FUE method.
Extraction of Hair Follicles: Using a specialized tool called a micro punch; the required hair for transplantation is extracted from the individual’s donor area as in any FUE method.
Recipient Site Creation: The practitioner uses sapphire blades to create tiny incisions in the recipient area where the grafts will be transplanted. The use of sapphire blades allows for precise and refined incisions, promoting better hair graft placement.
Graft Placement: The practitioner then carefully inserts the extracted hair follicles into the recipient site incisions. This process requires precision to ensure proper alignment, angle, and distribution of the grafts for natural-looking results.
During your personalised consultation, our experts will investigate your age, family history and hair loss type and ensure you’re a suitable candidate for a successful hair transplant.
A FUE hair transplant is the most successful and permanent method of hair restoration treatment. Once you’ve had your hair transplant you’ll notice that your hair will shed after a few weeks – this is a normal part of the procedure and the hair will grow back strong and healthy.
Your hair will begin to grow in the transplanted areas and you’ll start to see your new head of hair after around 3-6 months of growth. The transplanted hair will continue to grow, just as it did in the donor area.
The procedure itself is relatively painless as we administer local anaesthesia to minimise pain and discomfort. The FUE treatment itself leaves you with almost no post-surgical pain and discomfort.
The procedure usually takes between 6-8 hours for a one-day session and 12-16 hours in total for a two-day session. The duration is dependent on the number of grafts required and your hair characteristics.
Our experts foresee any future hair loss on any other areas of the scalp and design your hair transplant around this to ensure that it is not only successful but also looks natural in the years to come.
